Last Sunday the head seized on my TDI. I cannot help but think this is related to the repairs they did down at Wallace Volkswagen in Bristol Tennessee. VW is again covering this as a warranty repair, but so far they have been unwilling to fork over for the rental car. It should be fixed Tuesday. This repair will be done at Linsay Volkswagen in Sterling (Dulles) Virginia.
The Rondo is basically an Optima with a tall wagon body on it, so I expected it to drive the same. The particular example I have has 17,000 hard rental miles on it and it shows, but on the whole, I like driving it better than I liked the Optima. Maybe I have lower expectations given the age of the thing and its mini-mini-van style. The brakes are definitely warped in the front - design or mistreatment? Hard to say. Other than that, it works well.
