I spotted this sign near one of the company apartments in San Antonio. Seems to be the intersection of AT&T and SBC.

Windmill?
I don't think this windmill is actually doing anything, but you can never tell. Doesn't seem likely though.

Paper Ride
Photos of toys, close-up, may be one of my new favorite things. This is a paper motorcycle, under 10mm tall. Of course, the ones James has are simple and tough. They make much more complex ones.
Rainbow Warrior
I saw this in the Charlotte airport. Apparently Jeff Gordon left his car at the airport. Must be his daily driver, since he couldn't race this one - not a CoT. Best part - check out the rear deck lettering. The Miracles of Science seems to be a trademark!

Clouds From Both Sides
This was taken on a flight from Charlotte to San Antonio. I liked the view out the plane window, so I tried to get a pic.

Earthworm
James is helping his mommy plant a flower garden around a tree in our front yard. He just discovered the joys of earthworms.
Robin Layed an Egg (Again)
About this time last year, a pair of robins built a nest over our front door. Didn't work out well for them as the eggs didn't hatch. This year, they moved over to the boxwood at the corner of the porch, but looks like something has already eaten the egg. Maybe they would do better if the nest was a little harder to get to. Better luck next time.

Flowers
What's the cutest thing a five year old can do? Take his scissors, go in the yard, and cut a bouquet of dandelions for his mommy.

The Beatles Complete on Ukulele
I've been following Roger Greenwalt and David Barratt's blog since they first started posting with While My Guitar Gently Weeps. They describe themselves as
Their mission:
The essays tend to ramble off in unexpected directions, but they are interesting and the music is unique. Check it out.
perfomance philanthropists who write songs, create installations, make visual art, write books, produce records, organize performances, produce films, re-create historical events and share a weakness for beauty.
Their mission:
Roger and Dave will....
A) Record & perform on ukulele all 185 original compositions by The Beatles with 185 guest artists.
B) Write essays to coincide with each release.
C) Make available for download one new recording and essay every Tuesday for 185 weeks, beginning January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day) and climaxing July 24, 2012 (The eve of the London Olympics).

The Sun Never Sets on Verizon
The tower at Verizon's CO can be seen pretty much anywhere in Leesburg. Kind of like the tower in a feudal castle. Be respectful or they will take your Internet away.

Get To Work Cutting That Grass!
James was happily watching "Happy Feet" today when he jumped up, ran out the door, and went to Tam. He really wanted to mow. Here he is driving the mower (with Tam helping just a little bit).
Barbed Wire
“Information is the oxygen of the modern age. It seeps through the walls topped by barbed wire, it wafts across the electrified borders.”

Power Schmower
People complain just to complain.
There are literally millions of utility poles in the USA. Outside of cities, they move our power, entertainment (such as it is), voice, and data from here to there and everywhere. The thing is, if you aren't looking for them, you don't even really see them. I kind of like them.
Dominion Virginia Power has right-of-way along the W&OD trail for transmission lines. In fact, there are power lines of some sort over most of the length of the trail. When they proposed new transmission lines from Leesburg to Purcelville Virginia, there was a mass protest from trail users -
"The monopoles will blight the landscape" and
"They will ruin the treeline"
were common statements. Eventually, the protest forced the company to go to underground transmission at a much higher cost than the planned above-ground system. Who do you suppose will pay for the difference?

The Camera Kid
We gave James this Kidzoom camera for Christmas two years ago. He more or less ignored it most of the time since then, but not any more. In the last few days, he has taken countless photos (mostly blurs) and over one hundred short videos. It might be his favorite toy. He asked me to take his picture with it, so here it is.

Playing Sticks
I don't have to pick up sticks from the yard. Bella can get all but the really big ones by herself. Now if only I could get her to pile them up instead of chewing them to bits. Then it would be perfect!
